Packington residents were issued with a flood warning as Storm Henk brought rain to the area on Tuesday.

But the warning was removed on Wednesday morning.

The Gov.UK website had said that levels had risen at the Packington river gauge as a result of the heavy rainfall.

Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland was expected on Tuesday evening.

The site added that further rainfall is forecast over the following 24 hours - and that the situation is being closely monitored.

It adds: "Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast.

"Please avoid contact with flood water and call 999 if in immediate danger. This message will be updated on Wednesday, or as the situation changes.

The Packington Post Facebook page was already reporting flooded roads in the village.

The flood warning area: Gilwiskaw Brook at Packington including Mill Street and Brook Close.

Also affected is the River Mease at Measham and Netherseal including Huntingdon Way, Mallard Close, Siskin Close, Wordsworth Way and Burns Close in Measham and Stretton Bridge and Mill Farm in Netherseal.
