Swimming legend and Strictly contestant Adam Peaty used an empty Ashby Lido pool to rehearse Saturday night's dance routine with his competition partner Katya Jones.

The pair were pictured during Saturday's show dancing at the Ashby Leisure Centre venue.

Eagle-eyed viewers were quick to take to social media to post that the Ashby by the Sea logo was clearly visible as they practiced their Argentine tango.

And the move worked as the multiple world record holder and Olympic champion Peaty was able to move into the next round of the contest.

The pool is run by Everyone Active and once it became clear the BBC wanted to film Peaty and Jones in action, they made it happen.

Adam Knight, Everyone Active's general manager, said: "The BBC contacted us as they wanted to film Adam and Katya practicing their Argentine tango in an empty swimming pool prior to Saturday's show.

"By chance, we had just emptied our outdoor pool and were delighted to accommodate them.

"They came down for a few hours on Thursday and it was a pleasure and an honour to have them here.

"The outdoor pool at the centre is the last remaining public lido in the East Midlands and it was brilliant to see it featured on one of the biggest shows on television.

"Hopefully, the coverage will help to show people what a great facility we have here in Ashby."

Fellow contestant Dan Walker had an online exchange with the former Mayor of Ashby, Cllr Graham Allman, after being described as a 'muppet'.
