WHAT'S ON IN ASHBY IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY OUR MAIN SPONSOR THE LYRIC ROOMS

This weekend's Ashby Bank Holiday events cover a wide range of entertainment and activities - hopefully there is something for everyone.

Don't forget, you can advertise your event for free at Ashby Nub News - and reach thousands of our readers by doing so.

Whether it is a gig, a comedy night, a pub quiz or maybe your monthly society meeting, just fill in the form HERE and we will list it for you in our What's On section.

The Bath Grounds is the setting for the return of Ashby Food Gusto - which is being held on Saturday and Sunday.

Make sure you come and experience some of the region's best food and drink, in the centre of Ashby de la Zouch.

Try something new and enjoy lunch out where you can choose between wood fired pizza, organic beef burgers and sausages, spicy homemade samosas, authentic Caribbean BBQ, Greek Gyros and Indian curries to name but a few.

These could all be washed down with a barista coffee, local craft ale and cider, new British cocktails or English wines grown and produced in the Midlands.

There is a fantastic line-up of producers and products from venison, pies, farmhouse cheese, preserves, olives and crepes to cakes, doughnuts, traditional sweets, local wines, beers, ciders, spirits and more.

Also, there will be great local music, children's rides and activities run by Ashby Rotary to keep the whole family entertained.

More details of the event can be found HERE.

The Lyric Rooms in Lower Church Street is hosting a Princess Vintage Afternoon Tea on Saturday.

Come along for a magical afternoon with a visit from TWO real life Princesses!

While you are enjoying a delicious afternoon tea, The Snow Queen and Belle will personally visit your table for a magical one to one experience.

Afternoon tea is served on the venue's vintage tea sets, with bunting, table linen and cutlery, in our beautiful refurbished venue.

You can find more details HERE.

The Lyric Rooms is also showing the film 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' next Wednesday.

Naomi Ackie is excellent in the title role and the film delivers all the singer's big hits. The movie's clear focus is on Whitney's talent skating over some of the more controversial parts of her life and delivers on the big songs and big moments.

There are great supporting performances from Tamara Tunie and Clarke Peters as Whitney's gospel-singer mom Cissy and dad John and Stanley Tucci is scene-stealingly as her record boss.

You can find more details HERE.

This weekend also sees the return of Ashby Arts Festival.

As well as a number of paintings placed around the town centre, there are a series of events from Monday through to Friday

Among the events being staged are two shows at the Venture Theatre - with Southbound playing live on Friday night and the Sence Valley Band on Saturday.

This magical show is one for the whole family. Running time: 40 mins approx.

It will be a busy Bank Holiday at Brew with the entertainment starting early on Friday evening.

The Market Street craft beer bar has a live acoustic session from Kev Andrews to kick off the weekend.

Saturday sees more pop-up food in the shape of G Kitchen.

And Brew has more live music on Sunday with its regular Lazy Afternoon session - this week it is Mark, Dave and Issy playing live.

Conkers has a tribute to Madness and Two-Tone on Saturday night.
