A choir concert at Our Lady of Lourdes Church is among the events taking place during a busy weekend in the Ashby area.

Concordia Choir is staging A Sprig of Thyme, featuring folk songs and music for Spring, at the church in Station Road this Saturday evening.

Kevin Cunningham, chairman of the Concordia Choir, says this will be the second concert given with new musical director Tom Stanyard.

"We advertised for Tom, we needed one as our musical director had stepped away just before Covid," said Kevin.

"Tom's in charge, he rules the whole choir, he directs, helps create and source the programme of music as well as getting us all to rehearse and perform it, he then conducts it.

"He is talented local man. But for the venue itself, the acoustics are great and will be well worth hearing.

"Having tested the venue out, I know that the sound will be gorgeous."

You can find out more details about the concert HERE.
