Former Ashby councillor sends 'enjoy the wildnerness' email to Conservatives who lost in Town Council elections
The Conservative losses in this week's Ashby Town Council elections have been highlighted in an email sent out by former councillor and Mayor Graham Allman.
Mr Allman was ousted from the Conservative Party and had been sitting on council committees as an Independent councillor.
He decided not to run in this year's elections as he was standing down as a councillor.
But he made his feelings clear in an email to some of the Tory candidates - and ex-councillors - who lost out at the polls.
In an email titled: 'And it came to pass' - which has been seen by Ashby Nub News - Mr Allman wrote: "You all should have known better than to cross me.
"There are consequences to actions, jealousy is a poor trait.
"Enjoy the wilderness of losing an election!
"Former Councillor Graham Allman - 20 years, over six elections, undefeated!"
Among those people the email was addressed to were five of the Conservative councillors who were defeated at the polls on Thursday.
Mr Allman, then a district councillor, was initially suspended by the North West Leicestershire Conservative Party four years ago while it investigated an abusive post he sent on Facebook to Labour East Midland MEP Rory Palmer.
But he supported the Ashby British Legion's bid to make sure the Remembrance Sunday parade in the town was returned to Market Street and the War Memorial last year after being held at the Bath Grounds the previous year due to Covid-19 regulations.
He also made a request in his final planning committee meeting for an update on the position regarding the Bath Grounds and Royal Hotel.
It was refused on the grounds that it was not on the agenda.
Mr Allman said: "I requested an update - my request was declined by the committee chairman Cllr Jim Hoult."
