Two houses on Nottingham Road in Ashby will be demolished this summer as part of the new Money Hill development.

They will make way so that access to the planned site can be gained from there.

But it will not happen until the summer weeks - this is so the work can take place during the school holidays.

The work will happen close to Ashby School and is the timing is designed to cause minimum disruption.

A meeting of Ashby de la Zouch Town Council's planning committee was of the plans for the demolition of the buildings.

The space created eventually lead on to the new estate from Nottingham Road.

Numbers three and five will be knocked down as a result.

The committee had no objections to the plans which means the demolition can go ahead in the weeks between July and September.

Cllr Mike Ball said: "This makes sense, we've got to help them stick to the schedule.

"The demolition shouldn't cause too many problems, it's the creation of the new access that's the difficult bit."

The committee has previously expressed concerns about work that will be happening on Nottingham Road.

In 2020, the committee said it was worried about construction traffic on that route during the building of the 605-home estate.

But work has already started at the other end of the development, with road works on the A511 Ashby bypass and a new access road being constructed.

A new roundabout is planned opposite the access road.

Work started there in early April and details of the traffic restrictions were made public at the end of March.

Full details of Ashby bypass works have been confirmed by developers
