Ashby’s Inspire Youth Collective reflects on successful 2025
By Grace Kennington 3rd Feb 2026
Just over a year since opening, Ashby's Inspire Youth Collective has made huge steps to create a safe and engaging space for young people and the wider community.
Since their opening on 10 September 2024, IYC has made a massive difference locally, introducing new opportunities and a safe space, receiving awards and recognition for their hard work.
Speaking at a recent Ashby Town Council meeting, Emma Armstrong-Heath, Director of Inspire Youth Collective CIC reflected on the many successes that have achieved in their first year.

Emma told Nub News: 'It's very rewarding to see the children calling this space their own, and I am inspired everyday by their energy and enthusiasm.
'I am humbled by the support from the local community and the awards we have won.
'We are always tweaking our service and have some exciting things coming in our second year.'
From starting with just 9 young people, IYC have now supported 148 local under 16s and have massively increased the number of spaces at their holiday clubs, including spaces for 35 children on free school meals.

Alongside their popular afterschool and holiday activity clubs, IYC has become a vital community asset, offering a community fridge, social events, networking opportunities, sensory sessions for toddlers, social and learning opportunities for home schooled students and a community café.
In 2025, IYC sold out of their summer holiday clubs, having to get approval from the authorities to create more spaces.
They also supported Ashby Pride and opened their doors for a Christmas Party as part of Christmas in Ashby and the Santa Run.
The IYC team has also been commended for their hard work with two brilliant awards. They were presented with the Women's Entrepreneurship Award 2025 for Community Impact and Prestige and Central England Award for Youth Innovation of the Year.
