Ashby-de-la-Zouch is the proud recipient of the Purple Flag accreditation, recognising the hard work by local organisations to creating a safe and lively nightlife.

Similar to the Blue Flag for beaches, the Purple Flag aims to raise the standard of town and city centres between 5pm and 5am.

The award highlights Ashby's vibrant blend of entertainment, dining and culture, while maintaining the safety and wellbeing of residents and visitors.

There is a huge variety of businesses and organisations involved in this, including local businesses, nightclubs, bars, restaurants, Ashby Town Council and the co-ordinated night safety teams.

A collaboration between local police, Street Pastors, the Safer Northwest Partnership, Night Time Wardens Security Patrol Team and the NTE Police Unit, as well as the addition of CCTV and body cameras for door staff and at licenced premises, Ashby is able to maintain a safe nightlife with support in place.

Leader of Ashby Town Council, Chris Smith said: 'We remain dedicated to ensuring Ashby is a vibrant destination to live, work, and visit.

'I am delighted that our town has once again secured the prestigious Purple Flag accreditation, a testament to our collective efforts in raising standards across the night-time economy.

'This recognition highlights the strength of our local partnerships and our ongoing commitment to excellence.'

Ashby Pub Watch, a group made up of local bars, restaurants, businesses, and public safety personnel like the Street Pastors and Night Wardens were proud to receive this award.

In a statement, Ashby Pub Watch said: Ashby is proud to retain its Purple Flag accreditation, a national award recognising our town as a safe, vibrant and well-managed destination for evening and night-time activities.

'This achievement is a testament to the strong working partnership between licensees, Police, CCTV, and local authorities, which forms a vital foundation for our thriving community.

'We continuously strive to enhance the wide range of activities and offerings available for all ages, ensuring Ashby remains a great place to enjoy.'
