Ashby de la Zouch Town Council to mark 80th anniversary of D-Day with churchyard service

Ashby de la Zouch Town Council will be commemorating the D-Day 80th Anniversary tomorrow (Thursday) with a short service in St. Helen's Churchyard.

Those wishing to attend should gather at 8.30pm - the service will begin at 8.45pm prompt.

There willl be a welcome, opening words and prayer from the Revd. Tim Philips

Following that, there will be the hymn 'Nearer my god to thee', with the St. Helen's Choir.

The Mayor will then make the proclamation, followed by the reading of Ashby's Fallen by Cllr Chris Smith.

Lord's Prayer will then be read by the Revd. Tim Philips, followed by the laying of wreaths.

The International Tribute will read by Deputy Lieutenant (Alison Smith) followed by the lighting of the Beacon at 9.15pm.

The National Anthem will conclude the service.
