Leicestershire County Council have announced further improvements will be introduced for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities across the county.
A new three-year SEND Reform Plan has been unveiled, setting out how the county council, schools, health partners and families can work together to improve services and outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
Proposals being introduced include expanding the number of specialist school places, including the building of a new £30 million, 250-place special school for Harborough.
The plan also includes the county's adoption of an 'Experts at Hand' approach bringing health and education specialists directly into mainstream schools, nurseries and post-16 settings to make them more inclusive and support children earlier.
This will include speech and language therapists and educational psychologists.
