Coronavirus: Ashby Hastings Cricket Club Told First Half Of Season Is To Be Cancelled

Ashby Hastings Cricket Club say they will not be playing any matches until July at the earliest.

The first half of their season has been cancelled due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak.

It is a decision that was announced after Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket League meeting and follows a strong of other sports that have been put on hold during the current lockdown.

A statement from Ashby Hastings chairman Tom Yates was issued on Monday and reads: "Following an Executive Committee meeting of L&RCL they have concluded that the first half of the season will now be cancelled.

"Initial fixtures won't start until, at the earliest, Saturday 4th July. Further review and discussion on promotion and relegation in 2020 will be continued at their next meeting on 16th April.

"We will continue to update you with any developments from the league or indeed the ECB regarding the way forward for the 2020 season.

"Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your understanding in these difficult circumstances.

"I do hope you and your families stay safe and well through this difficult situation."
