April Fool!: Aldi Ashby 20 Event 'To Be Staged As Part Of The London Marathon'

Organisers of the Aldi Ashby 20 race played an April Fool joke when they claimed to have been told they could run the event alongside the London Marathon later this year.

The Ashby 20 was due to be held last month but was cancelled less than 48 hours beforehand because of the Coronavirus spread.

But, on Wednesday, they 'revealed' that the London Marathon organisers had allowed it race to be part of their event which has been put back to later in the year.

The Ashby 20 Facebook page posted on Wednesday: "Great news! We have been in discussion with the London Marathon organisation, and they have agreed that, when they fix their rescheduled race, we can stage the Aldi Ashby 20 within it.

"Our start area will be in Greenwich Park, and the race will merge with the London Marathon at the Cutty Sark - approx six miles into the Marathon.

"The two races will run together for the rest of the route except the last 400metres, where the Ashby 20 will turn up Constitution Hill to finish rather than along the Mall.

"Many thanks to the London Marathon - together in Running!"

However, the post did include at the end #whatsthedate.
