Ashby Ivanhoe FC stunned Northern Premier League West side Chasetown on Saturday with a superb 1-0 FA Cup Preliminary round victory.

It was a tie that produced two red cards - one for each side - but Sam Grouse's first half goal proved enough to earn a memorable result.

Chasetown had Lewi Burnside sent off in the early stages of the game for a challenge on Jess Adcock.

Ashby made the most of the man advantage as they took the lead through Grouse with a left-footed shot into the far corner in the 18th minute.

Step 4 Chasetown never recovered from that, despite pushing for an equaliser. Jack Langston's corner found Joe Thompson, whose header brought an excellent save from the Ivanhoe keeper Brad Catlow.

Luke Cater and Oli Hayward also threatened the Ashby goal – before another red card added another twist to the tie.

This time, Ivanhoe's Jake Conkay was shown a red after a clash between players.

It means Ashby will now play in the First Qualifying Round on August 31 where they will play Northern Premier League - Premier Division (Step 3) side Leek Town
