A 28-year-old woman was stabbed in Moira this morning (Tuesday).

Leicestershire Police have confirmed that officers are carrying out further enquiries in the area following the incident in Sweethill.

The woman has been taken to hospital where she is being treated for injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "The incident took place just after 8am today (Tuesday 3 May).

"An investigation into the incident and the circumstances leading up to it is underway.

"No arrests have been made at this stage.

"Anyone who has any information which may assist with the enquiries is asked to contact 101, quoting crime number 22*249541."
