Ashby Ivanhoe Football Club manager Andy Gray has issued an end of season message - insisting the club will continue to progress next season.

Ivanhoe missed out on a possible promotion from the Midland Division when they lost their play-off semi-final to Stapenhill in Burton on Trent on Tuesday night.

But Gray says there have been plenty of positives to come. out of the season - and he hopes to build on those when the new season arrives.

He posted a message on social media yesterday (Thursday) and said: "Unfortunately we failed to progress in the playoffs and subsequently will again be playing Step 6 football next season.

"However, on the whole the season was enjoyable and I'm proud of everyone's contribution.

"All of the volunteers who give up their time are as important as myself or anyone who is involved. Thank you all so much.

"My backroom staff have also been immense in our push for promotion and they deserve a massive amount of credit, as do the players.

"The squad has developed over the season and this group of players certainly have the potential to progress the club further.

"Added to that, the football club are continuing with their drive to improve our facilities and exciting times are ahead.

"Also I'd like to thank the fans for their support throughout the campaign. It was great to speak with some of you and enjoy the journey together.

"Finally, I know that everyone concerned will strive to progress the club and achieve the goals that the town deserves."
