Vacancies at new Ashby specialist school
By James Smith 20th May 2026
A new specialist school in Ashby committed to helping children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) has officially opened its doors, bringing fresh opportunities for families, pupils and education professionals in the local area.
Huntingdon House School has now welcomed its first pupils, with children already enjoying their new learning environment, building friendships and taking part in engaging educational experiences tailored to their individual needs.
The school has been founded on the belief that every child can enjoy school and develop to be "the best they can be" with self-respect, confidence and pride.
Staff at Huntingdon House School are "passionate about delivering personalised learning experiences" that help pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally - and there are now vacancies at the school.
The school's curriculum is designed to be "broad, balanced and flexible", enabling children to "learn through practical experiences, enrichment activities and real-world opportunities".
Headteacher Cheryl Power said: "It has been wonderful to see our pupils settling in so positively and enjoying being part of the school community.
"Huntingdon House School was created to provide a nurturing and inspiring environment where children feel understood, supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential. We are incredibly proud of the start we have made."
The school places a strong emphasis on pupil voice, creativity, achievement, technology-enhanced learning and positive social experiences. Its approach encourages students to develop confidence, independence and lifelong learning skills while preparing them for the wider world.
As Huntingdon House School continues to grow, the school is now recruiting passionate and committed professionals to join its expanding team.
Current vacancies include:
- SEN Teacher
- Two Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs)
The school is seeking "enthusiastic individuals who are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs and who share the school's inclusive values and child-centred approach".
"Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work within a supportive and forward-thinking environment, helping shape the future of a developing specialist provision from its earliest stages," the school said.
The opening of Huntingdon House School is expected to provide valuable specialist education opportunities for local families while also raising awareness of the importance of high-quality SEND provision within the community.
Anyone interested in the vacancies or wishing to learn more about the school is encouraged to contact Huntingdon House School directly through its website or the Nub News recruitment pages.
