Homecare provider launches new activity bags in bid to encourage connection and conversation
By James Smith 19th May 2026
Homecare provider Right at Home Ashby, Burton & Uttoxeter has introduced a heartwarming new initiative designed to bring meaningful activities, conversation, and companionship into the homes of local clients through their monthly Activity Bags.
The initiative was created with the vision of bringing care home-style activities into the wider community, helping local clients feel engaged, connected, and involved throughout the year.
Each month, the bags are thoughtfully themed around seasonal activities, awareness campaigns, or important causes, encouraging both creativity and conversation between clients and their care assistants.
This month's bags have focused on Mental Health Awareness, encouraging clients to open up about any worries or concerns they may have, whilst also creating opportunities to share treasured memories and meaningful conversations with their carers over a cup of tea and a biscuit.
At the heart of every Right at Home care call is communication. The organisation prides itself on a stringent recruitment process, ensuring Care Assistants are compassionate, approachable, and confident communicating with clients from all generations and backgrounds.
Right at Home believes conversation itself can be a powerful form of therapy, helping to reduce loneliness, build trust, and strengthen professional relationships between carers and clients.
The initiative has already received an overwhelmingly positive response from clients across the community.
Ashby client Ann shared: "I'm really enjoying these monthly activities. I made pancakes in February which was so much fun, and we've been growing cress and sunflowers."
Registered Manager Melanie Rowland said: "I'm so pleased the activity bags have been well received. These little touches really help to make our care visits meaningful and enjoyable for clients. Our clients deserve nothing but the best and we always strive to go above and beyond."
The monthly Activity Bags have featured a range of engaging and uplifting activities so far, designed to spark joy, encourage independence, and create special moments during care visits.
The initiative will continue throughout the year, with future activity bags planned around seasonal themes, community celebrations, and national awareness campaigns.
Right at Home Ashby, Burton & Uttoxeter hopes the Activity Bags will continue to bring comfort, companionship, and smiles to clients across the local community, whilst reminding people of the importance of staying connected and talking openly about their wellbeing.
Because sometimes, the smallest conversations can make the biggest difference.
