Ashby Ivanhoe FC invited the town's Mayor, Councillor Avril Wilson, to the club last weekend to explain their plans for the future.

The ambitious club have had a successful year on the field, winning promotion from the Midland League last season and winning a number of trophies at different levels.

Cllr Wilson visited the club on Saturday as they prepared to host Football League opposition in Doncaster Rovers, who sent a young side to the NFU Ground.

Ivanhoe turned in an impressive performance as they prepare for their new season in the United Counties League.

Rovers went 2-1 up at half-time. But after the break, Ivanhoe's experience showed as they ran out eventual 4-2 winners.

Ivanhoe's fixture list for the coming season has been announced, and they start with two home games.

Due to a request from Spalding-based side Pinchbeck to reverse the opening fixture, Ashby will begin at home on July 29 rather than away.

After that, Eastwood are the visitors on Tuesday, August 1.
