Storm Dennis: Flooding in Packington as Weather Hits Ashby Area - Three Through Roads Affected

A flood warning has been issued for Packington with property in the area expected to be hit.

And the Spotted Measham site reports severe flooding in the village saying Mill Street, Measham Road, Babelake Street are to be avoided as they are completely flooded.

The flood warning information service said the levels at Gilwiskaw Brook were rising.

People have been warned to take extra care in the area.

Their early morning warning read as follows: "River levels have risen at the Packington river gauge as a result of the persistent heavy rainfall from Storm Dennis.

"Consequently, the flooding of property is expected imminently.

"Further, potentially heavy, rainfall is forecast through to midday (16/02/20).

"We are closely monitoring the situation.

"Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast.

"Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."
