Soapbox Derby

Rev your engines and get your cardboard at the read because Ashby's popular Soapbox Derby is returning for 2026.

The countdown is on for this popular event, featuring a 200-metre course packed with twists, jumps and chicanes, watched by a roaring crowd of spectators.

The Ashby Soapbox Derby will take place on Market Street on Sunday 17 May 2026 and is free to attend for observers.

Wedding Fayre

Couples looking to "turn their dream day into reality" are invited to the Spring Wedding Fayre at a stunning wedding venue just outside Ashby next month.

Having opened its new season in April, The Glade at Rosliston is preparing to welcome couples to its major event on May 17 hosted by Little Rain Events.

Set in the heart of the National Forest, the Spring Wedding Fayre will offer guests the chance to meet over 25 "exceptional" local wedding suppliers ready to make their special day even more special.

The free event will feature DJs, cake makers, florists and more - all from Derbyshire and the surrounding areas. Guests will also be treated to their own goodie bag.

And for those yet to choose their own venue, the day will give couples the perfect chance to explore The Glade and its "truly different offering" in the "beauty of the outdoors".

This weekend Central Bar and Venue in Ibstock is hosting a night of Soul.
