As Valentine's Day is quickly approaching, we have put together a run down of local events, date nights and offers on this week.

Whether you are looking for a candlelit dinner for two, afternoon tea with your best friends or something a little different down at the alpaca farm, there's a great mix of romantic and relaxed events this Valentine's Day!

Five Course Taster Menu at Twelve

Twelve in Ashby is holding a relaxed and indulgent evening on 14 February, featuring a five course tasting menu, perfect for date night.

Upon arrival, guests can enjoy a relaxed spread of crisp crackers, marinated olives, sun-dried tomatoes and sweet peppers filled with whipped feta.

Then Canapes will be services, featuring: duck parfait, goat's cheese and beetroot tart, compressed watermelon and cucumber sashimi and salmon tartare, caviar and blini.

For start, chose from two options: grilled mussels with a creamy thermidor sauce with Dijon mustard, white wine and Gruyere, topped with Parmesan and crisp panko; or grilled oyster mushrooms coated in a rich Thermidor-style sauce, finished with Parmesan and golden panko crumb.

Delicious main courses on offer include: Fillet steak medallion, Za'atar-crusted rump of lamb, pan-roasted sea bass or tandoori cauliflower steak.

To wrap up a great evening of food, chose a dessert from: Kir Royale panna cotta, salted caramel chocolate brownie or share warm cookie dough.

Valentine's Experience with Charnwood Forest Alpacas

For a less traditional approach to Valentine's Day, Charnwood Forest Alpacas are offering 'Alpacas, Love and Scones'.

The farm, which is located in Boundry just outside of Ashby, has curated an experience perfect for fun date or day out with your best friend.

The package includes:

• 30-minute Mini Alpaca Walk with their bandana-wearing cuties,
• Meet and greet with the pigs (the perfect photo opportunity),
• Meet the cria (baby alpacas) and learn fun facts about them,
• Optional upgrade of Afternoon Tea at £15.95 or Cream Tea at £6.95 per person.

Galentine's Punch Needle Workshop

Galentine's Day is a version of Valentine's Day focussed on celebrating platonic love and friendship.

Gather your best mates together (or go solo and make new friends) for a Galentine's punch needle workshop at Centivo Lounge on Tuesday 17 February.

Valentine's Menu at Calypso

Calypso, Ashby's new Caribbean and British bistro, have a special set menu on Saturday 14 February.

Upon arrival, guests can enjoy a choice of pink prosecco or Valentine's cocktail with baked chorizo and hot honey camembert with a selection of breads to share.

For starters, they have a great selection of dishes including: grilled shell-on prawns, celeriac soup with warm sourdough, jerk chicken patties served with jerkslaw or cured ham and Manchego croquettes with tomato relish.

For main course, diners can choose from: jerk cod fillet and callaloo with a spiced potato fritter; chicken and artichoke risotto with black garlic, topped with parmesan; jerk jackfruit and coco bread with mango and lime slaw; and a 8 oz Ribeye steak served with thick-cut chips, tomatoes, wild mushrooms and pink peppercorn sauce.

For dessert, they are serving up some delicious sharing options, such as tiramisu, chocolate and hazelnut delice, grilled banana with banoffee ice cream and dark rum and caramel sauce, or the option of a cheese board for an additional £5.

Valentine's Week at The Courtyard

Ashby's popular The Courtyard café are making this week special with Valentine's and Galentine's treats on offer from Monday 9 to Saturday 14 February.

They have a few lovely options to enjoy, including:

• Valentine's and Galentine's Before Noon Tea - served from 9.30am to 11am,
• Valentine's and Galentine's Afternoon Tea including two hot drinks, a mocktail, a selection of hot and cold savoury treats, fruit scones with jam and cream and some romantic desserts - served from 2pm onwards
