Police found two people in possession of drugs while on duty in Ashby on Friday night.

North West Leicestershire Police reported that officers were out on Market Street as part of their night time economy patrols.

They were joined by the Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner Rupert Matthews, Councillor Andrew Woodman and one of the force's drugs dogs.

An online post says: "During the evening two people were identified by the dog as carrying drugs.

"Following being detained, the persons were searched and a quantity of drugs was found.

"Remember when out for Christmas nights out over the next few weeks to take care and celebrate safely, organise your lift home and know your limits."
