Section of Ashby's Leicester Road closed to traffic from tomorrow: Diversion in place

Ashby motorists face a major diversion when a section of the town's Leicester Road is closed from tomorrow (Thurs).

The stretch between The Croft and Ruthyn Close is scheduled to be shut to traffic for up to two weeks to allow Network Rail to undertake infrastructure maintenance and repairs and for various highway maintenance works.

The recommended alternative diversion for all through-bound traffic - marked in blue on the map - takes vehicles from Leicester Road, along Upper Packington Road, onto Ashby Road, into Normanton Road and then back towards Ashby on Coleorton Lane to rejoin Leicester Road - and vice versa.

Leicestershire County Council, which made the temporary road closure order, states: "The works will commence on site when the appropriate signs have been erected and may last for up to 14 days.

"Leicestershire County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during the duration of the order."

Access for emergency service vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.
