A road closure it that has been postponed twice this month is now due to start on Monday (January 25).

Works are set to take place along Station Road and Tamworth Road in Ashby.

And, according to signage on display in the area, the works are due to last for 11 days - from January 25 to February 6..

The work was due to have started on January 13, but was put back a week. However, the work has yet to begin and the signs now give January 25 as a start date.

The signs also say that drivers must expect delays on one of the busiest roads in and out of the town. So alternative routes will need to be found.

This follows the closure of another important route heading north out of town when Smisby Road was closed for extensive road works and remained closed over the weekend after being due to finish last Friday (January 15).

Smisby Road in Ashby to be closed for second week.

Now another two weeks has been allowed to get the work finished - this means the route is still closed at The Callis.

Signage on Smisby Road now says that the road will be closed until January 31 - a week on Sunday.

Another road closure has also been announce for next month.

Leicestershire County Council says that a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) is to be made for Highfields Close in Ashby.

This is to allow Western Power Distribution to safely facilitate relocation a street light.

The duration of the restriction is not anticipated to exceed a period of three days commencing on February 8.
