VIDEO: Sudden Snowstorm Hits Ashby On Wednesday Night

By Graham Hill

21st Jan 2021 | Local News

Most of the weather talk this week has been of heavy rain and possible floods.

But Ashby last night (Wednesday) found snow was the latest offering from Storm Christoph.

At around 11pm, driving rain turned into a snow storm - and our video (above) shows what it was like in the town centre with cars and lawns getting a covering of the white stuff.

But the amber alert is still in place for Thursday after some downpours on Wednesday.

Here is how the weather looks for Thursday and the weekend according to the Met Office.

A bright, cold and windy day with scattered showers, these occasionally wintry over the hills. Drier by the afternoon with any showers restricted to the Derbyshire hills. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday: Wintry on hills Friday, otherwise bright and breezy. Dry and bright with sunny spells Saturday as winds ease. Dry start Sunday, rain and snow possible later. Cold with overnight frosts.
