On Thursday 20 November, Ashby residents voted in a referendum to decide whether or not the updated Neighbourhood Plan should be adopted.

Ashby Town Council has revealed this morning (24 November) that had come out in favour of adopting the new Neighbourhood Plan, with 83% of those who voted choosing this outcome.

In total, 1637 local people voted, representing 13.65% of the population.

In a statement published on the Ashby de la Zouch Town Council Facebook page, they said: 'Many thanks for all of those who voted in the referendum.

'We now await confirmation from North West Leicestershire District Council to advice that the revised Ashby de la Zouch Neighbourhood Plan is 'made' and will be used in all subsequent planning decisions.'
