Man charged with arson with intent to endanger life following three housefires in Ashby

A 50-year-old man has been charged after three house fires occurred within 20 minutes of each other in Ashby on the morning of Friday 21 November.

The man has been charged with dangerous driving and three counts of arson with intent to endanger life.

The charges relate to three linked house fires in Holywell Avenue, Prestop Drive and Clifton Drive within twenty minutes of each other.

Two teenagers and a woman were taken to hospital for treatment. One teenager was treated for burn injuries and smoke inhalation while the other two were treated for smoke inhalation.

Their injuries have been described at not life changing or life threatening.

The man charged will appear before Leicestershire Magistrates' Court on Monday 24 November.
