Reader survey names Ashby as one of the top 250 places to live in the UK - and ranks town third in Leicestershire
Ashby has been voted one of the top 250 places to live in the UK - and the third best in Leicestershire.
But the town has missed out on a national award in the reader survey organised by the Muddy Stilettos website which has put together a nationwide list of Britain's best places.
The overall winner was announced this week as Exmouth in Devon.
But Ashby was named as one of the most sought-after towns by people looking to move house.
Only Clarendon Park, near Leicester, and Market Harborough were listed ahead of Ashby - which finished higher than places such as Uppingham and Oakham.
Many factors were taken into consideration, such as access to shops - and transport links in the area.
With endless places to explore across the country, in Muddy Stilettos' comprehensive list, the site has looked for the places with the loveliest towns, villages, schools, shops and pubs.
You can see the full list for yourself HERE.
Last year, Muddy Stilletos said of Ashby: "Ashby de la Zouch. What a great name.
"Also known as just Ashby, this market town in North West Leicestershire has pretty, period properties, timber-framed buildings, a bustling centre, and the luscious National Forest is on the doorstep.
"When night falls, there are restaurants, pubs, takeaways, cocktail bars, and even a micropub.
"A bit of random trivia – the town was also home to the much-loved author Sue Townsend's fictional character, Adrian Mole.
"There is an overall average price of £300,802 with detached houses selling for an average £363,933."
