North West Leicestershire District Council have given an update on the changes to household recycling.
In a statement published by the authority to social media, NWLDC said: 'As you may already know, the way we collect recycling is set to change.
'This is due to the government's Simpler Recycling policy, which aims to make recycling easier for households whilst increasing the types of materials which can be recycled.
'Based on your feedback, we will be replacing your red boxes and blue and yellow bags with two wheelie bins for different types of recycling. There will be one wheelie bin for paper and cardboard, and another for plastics, glass, tins, foil and flexible plastics. There will also be smaller caddies for weekly food waste collections.'
According to the authority, they have been working throughout the summer to accommodate these changes with the hopes of ordering new collection vehicles soon.
Residents should know by early December when they can expect the new changes to be implemented but, due to the long time to deliver new vehicles, this is expected to be next autumn.
The new system for recycling will be introduced in phases across the district and residents can find out more information about the new recycling system and some frequently asked questions by visiting the North West Leicestershire District Council recycling page.
