Ashby Netball Club etched its name into the Guinness World Records for the most netball goals scored in one hour (team), netting an extraordinary 1,564 goals, obliterating the previous record of 1,100, raising over £60,000 for a children's charity.
The achievement, officially confirmed by Guinness World Records this week, took place during the Ashby Netball Marathon, a community-driven event that combined fierce athleticism with a powerful sense of purpose. The marathon wasn't just about glory; it aimed to raise vital funds for a local charity, proving that teamwork can make a difference both on and off the court.

That purpose was clear from the start, the wider event raised over £60,000 for the Kids Village Charity, which is building the UK's first holiday village for children with critical illnesses. The record-breaking effort not only showcased remarkable sporting endurance but also the club's deep commitment to helping others.
'This was one of the hardest and most incredible things we've ever done,' said Carla Garey, a proud Ashby Netball Club member and one of the event organiser.
'We trained for months to build the stamina and precision this record demanded. Every goal mattered, every second counted, and every player gave absolutely everything.'
Garey added that the motivation went far beyond competition: 'Knowing that every shot we made was helping to give seriously ill children and their families unforgettable holidays, that's what drove us. To break a world record and raise over £60,000 for Kids Village is something we'll never forget.'

For sixty relentless minutes, the Ashby players rotated seamlessly, maintaining blistering pace and accuracy. With arms aching and voices hoarse from encouragement, they pushed through exhaustion to reach a record-breaking 1,564 goals, a figure that stunned both spectators and adjudicators.
"This isn't just a record," Garey said. "It's a statement, that community sport can achieve something extraordinary. We've put Ashby, and netball, on the international stage."
The Guinness World Records team has now officially verified the feat, cementing Ashby Netball Club's place in sporting history.
From a small Leicestershire town to the global spotlight, this record-breaking triumph stands as a powerful reminder of what passion, teamwork, and community spirit can achieve.
"From Ashby to the world... we did it."
