Over 200 cannabis plants with a street value of £150,000 have been uncovered at a property in Netherseal.

Swadlincote Police executed a drugs warrant at a house in Main Street on Wednesday, after information was received of a possible cannabis grow at the location.

Entry was forced into the premises and a large-scale cannabis grow was discovered.

Officers said the electricity to the property had been by-passed and had to be made safe before officers could investigate further.

Over 200 cannabis plants were seized from the location and a male and female were arrested from the address.

They were taken into custody and dealt with by the custody investigation unit.

Sgt Tarj Nizzer, of Swadlincote's Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "A lot of hard work has gone into planning this warrant.

"This is one the biggest grows found in South Derbyshire with a street value of £150,000. This was clearly funded for criminality purposes only."

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more early morning 'big red key door knocks' are expected.

The investigation is ongoing and if you have any information about this incident, please contact Swadlincote quoting 21*639711.
