Motorcyclist is seriously injured after collision with car on main Ashby road

A motorbike rider was taken to hospital with what are described as 'potentially life changing injuries' after a collision with a car in Ashby yesterday afternoon (Friday).

The incident happened shortly before 4pm and police closed off Nottingham Road while emergency service attended the scene.

The route was re-opened in the early evening after the rider had been taken to hospital.

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police said: "At around 3.50pm yesterday (Friday 12 November) police were called to Nottingham Road, Ashby, following a report of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

"The motorcyclist was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries that are potentially life-changing.

"The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene and later reopened.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are continuing."
