Ashby Civic Society has named Lil Bo's Deli as its Building of the Year for 2024.

The competition was run in conjunction with Ashby Museum and there were eight contenders.

They were: The Old Police Station; The Tap at No76; The Priest House; Smithards Bakery; Centivo Lounge (formerly HSBC Bank); Ashby Lido; 108, Market Street and Lil Bo's Deli.

But it was the Mill Lane Mews-based deli that came out on top.

A social media post from Ashby Civic society said: "A huge well done to Lil Bo's Deli, crowned Building of the Year 2024!

"This stunning space has been beautifully restored and renovated keeping true to its historic roots, making it a true gem in our community.

"A big shoutout as well to The Tap at No.76, our fantastic runner-up! Your thoughtful restoration and preservation of historic character is truly inspiring.

"Here's to celebrating these remarkable spaces and the history they honour."

The Society's website adds: "Building of the Month is a joint initiative between Ashby Museum and Ashby Civic Society, which aims to showcase and profile the restoration and design of a number of buildings in Ashby de la Zouch.

"We featured eight Buildings of the Month during 2024 and invited Ashby Civic Society members and the general public to vote for their favourite building, which then became Building of the Year.

"Congratulations to all the buildings who agreed to be showcased during 2024 and we now look forward to featuring Building of the Month again throughout 2025."
