Councillor Murrae Blair-Park has repeatedly asked Leicestershire County Council for confirmation over the state of Footpath O89 when it officially reopens.
Leicestershire County Council has confirmed the footpath, which connects North Street to the new Money Hill Car Park and has been closed since June, will reopen on 9 December.
The section of Footpath O89 that has been closed goes through Wainwright's Yard and was shut because of 'safety concerns.'
Since the closure, there has been a lack of communication between Leicester County Council and Ashby Town Council, with the town council accusing the county council of mishandling the situation.

Since the date of the reopening has been confirmed, Cllr Blair-Park has contacted Leicestershire County Council on multiple occasions to try and understand what state the path will be in when it reopens.
There has been discussion over the resurfacing of the path, with future plans to make the footpath more accessible to prams, bikes, mobility scooters and wheelchair users.
This would involve resurfacing the path and replacing the existing kissing gate.
After asking multiple times, Cllr Blair-Park is unclear whether this work will be carried out before the reopening.
Previously, Cllr Dan Harrison, Leader of Leicestershire County Council, told an Ashby Town Council meeting that 'If we are going to do it, we're going to do it proper,' but there has been no clear confirmation.
