A man was arrested at an address in Ashby on Wednesday on suspicion of drugs and weapon offences.

North West Leicestershire Police posted on social media that a man had been arrested.

The post read: "This morning a warrant was executed within Ashby De-La-Zouch.

"As a result of this, one adult male has been arrested; with a number of knives and other offensive, bladed articles recovered."

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police later told Ashby Nub News: "Officers executed a warrant at an address in Prestop Drive.

"A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine with intent to supply, possession of cannabis/cannabis resin and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

"He has since been released on bail."

Earlier this week, police carried out a knife sweep at the Bath Grounds as part of Operation Sceptre.

A social media post from North West Leicestershire Police added: "The inclement weather did not deter the Ashby Beat Team from carrying out another Knife Sweep.

"This time the search focused on the Bath Grounds area of Ashby.

"Once again we are pleased to report that nothing was found.

"The overriding objective is to educate people about the consequences of carrying a knife and, by doing, so we aim to ensure that Ashby remains a safe environment to live, work and visit."
