The NHS in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland have announced they will be making it easier for local people to get help quickly by offering a variety of appointments for people when they need to be seen on the same day. 

They will also offer more appointments in some locations. 

This is part of ongoing work by the Integrated Care Board to support people in using the right health services, as well as asking local people for their views on the services available. 

The feedback from this will then be used by the local NHS to shape ongoing improvements in the area. 

Dr Nil Sanganee, Medical Director of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board said: "We know it can be hard to get an appointment quickly, and that is why we are offering more appointments in pharmacies. 

"Currently, more than 210,000 appointments are made annually, through community pharmacies across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. 

"We are also asking everyone who has an immediate health need, who hasn't been able to look after the problem themselves, to contact their GP practice or NHS 111. This will enable us to understand their symptoms and offer them an appointment with the right service for their particular medical problem, avoiding long waits or trips to walk-in services that might not be suitable."
