Contract awarded as part of £65m project to improve road between Coalville and Ashby

Leicestershire County Council have announced they have awarded a £65m contract as a significant step forward to improve the A511 between Coalville and Ashby.
Contractor Taylor Woodrow has been selected by the authority to produce early contractor involvement (ECI) for the £65m scheme which hopes to reduce congestion, improve journey times and enhance road safety along the busy road between Ashby and Coalville.
Working alongside Leicestershire County Council, Taylor Woodrow will carry out essential pre-construction planning, ahead of the main construction phase which is scheduled to begin next year.
Leicestershire County Council cabinet member for highways and transport Cllr Charles Whitford said: 'The appointment marks a significant milestone in progressing this critical infrastructure project aimed at supporting growth, reducing congestion, and improving connectivity across the region.
'Taylor Woodrow has a solid track record in delivering major improvement schemes. We'll work with the contractor closely, refining the scheme ahead of construction starting next year.'
The works to the A511 major road network (MRN) is part of a growth corridor scheme to make major improvements to multiple locations between the A42 junction 13 near Ashby and the A50 Field Head roundabout near Markfield.
