Residents in Donisthorpe have seen a letter box 'yarn-bombed' ahead of the Platinum Jubilee.

Knitted Royal figures feature prominently in the display which has been made by four local women.

The ladies have chosen to remain anonymous in terms of this article - and are known to only a few people in the village.

Usually, it is only two people who create the designs which have become a regular feature.

What is unusual is that the letter box's shape does not allow for the displays to fit easily on top - so they have to be adapted.

Resident Peter Gale said: "Two ladies in Donisthorpe have yarn-bombed the post box on the corner of Chapel and Church Street again.

"In the past we've had, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, May Day and Midsummer designs.

"It's the same two ladies that regularly take to the crochet hooks to decorate the post box.

"But this time, four were involved.

"Because we have an usual post box - it doesn't have a lip around the top - the ladies have to adapt their creations by adding long lengths of fabric to tie off around the bottom to secure the creation."

The village will be holding its own Jubilee celebration on Friday, June 3.
