Ashby's Jubilee Street Party was a huge success according to the responses from those who braved the wet conditions to be on Market Street today (Sunday).

The event, organised by Ashby de la Zouch Town Council, was a year in the making - with 300 tables set out along the main route through the town and closed to traffic.

But a yellow warning of stormy weather from the Met Office 24 hours before the event raised fears the party could be washed out.

However, the forecast was only half right - it rained, but that failed to dampen the spirts of those that took part.

The Ashby public turned out in droves, and brought gazebos and umbrellas in case the weather turned.

The Jubilee spirit was there for all to see on a historic day - with the Queen's 70 years on the throne unlikely to matched.

Our live videos and photos brought a host of online replies all backing the event.

Former Ashby Mayor, Cllr Graham Allman, said: "It was a brilliant turnout".

Val Taylor added: "Absolutely brilliant! It takes more than a few drops of rain to stop us celebrating HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee! Fantastic."

Mary Wilson simply wrote: "Ashby-lutely Fabulous!"

Lisa Owen added: "It's good the weather hasn't stopped people from enjoying themselves."

We will be looking through our photos from the party and posting them over the. next few days.

If we came and took a photo of your table today, keep a look out for it on our picture galleries going online from tomorrow.
