Holiday cabins plan for Packington is withdrawn again

Plans to build three log cabins on the outskirts of Packington - to be used as holiday accommodation - have been withdrawn for a second time.

The application - which had been re-submitted last month - was for the cabins to be part of Whitegate Stables in Coleorton Lane.

But a number of local residents objected to the scheme when planning permisson was sought in September.

Among the issues raised was that the siting of the planned development was not in Packington, and could encourage more development towards the Leicester Road.

That, in turn, could lead to Packington losing its village status.

Others felt that the site should be kept as agricultural land, while concerns were also raised about there being excess traffic on a country lane.
