Four members of 4th Ashby Scout Group have been awarded the highest accolade available at Scouting level at an exclusive awards ceremony at Leicestershire Scouts County Headquarters.

Ben Robbins, Josh Warren, Alex Davies and Samuel Southwart were all awarded the Gold Chief Scout Award after three and a half years of dedication and hard work. As part of the award, they had to demonstrate a commitment to personal growth, teamwork and leadership skills, alongside pursuing their personal interest badges.

The Chief Scout's Gold Award is the highest award you can earn as a Scout, and only approximately 5% of Leicestershire Scouts achieve it. The award helps to prepare the scouts for challenges they might face in the future in work, education or their personal lives.

Josh, one of the Gold Award achievers said: "Completing my Gold award has been fun and enjoyable. Teamwork on camps, cooking and activities like shooting and archery all went towards my award without even knowing, it was all having fun.

"The caving trip always sticks out as a big adventure and the muddiest experience ever! We had great fun but the parent who took me home was shocked at how muddy we were! Helping on the Rotary Santa sleigh run was a fun way to volunteer towards my award. Mrs Claus's homemade mince pies helped the sore feet from all the walking!

"The best part of working to and achieving the award is that it's been fun with friends and we've grown up together with scouting."

Jon Bloor, Group Lead Volunteer for 4th Ashby Scouts commented: "One of the greatest joys of volunteering is watching young people earn their top award. It's more than just a badge - it builds confidence, pushes boundaries, and nurtures new skills. Lifelong friendships are forged along the way.

"For four years, I've been privileged to lead Scouts alongside a dedicated team of volunteers, and we're thrilled that four of our Scouts have been recognised for their efforts. Two more have achieved their Gold Award this term, with others set to complete the challenge at our week-long summer camp."
