Leicestershire Police publish shocking results of summer drink drug drive campaign with almost 100 arrests

In a statement published by Leicestershire Police, they have shared the outcomes of their June drink drug drive campaign.
Over the course of one month, 98 arrests were made, including 63 drink driving cases, 27 drug drivers and 8 drivers who failed to provide.
Thirty of the arrests were arrested after a roadside collision, with 19 of the drivers detained between 7am and 4pm.
While 37 of those arrested were in Leicester city, the remaining almost two thirds were arrested in and around rural towns and villages, including one driver who was stopped before 5pm following a collision and was found to be five times over the legal limit.
Spokesperson for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Road Safety Partnership, Jonathan Clarkson said: "It is extremely disappointing that so many drivers chose to ignore our advice and make the wrong choice to get behind the wheel while over the limit and now face the prospect of a criminal conviction.
"Leicestershire Police patrols will continue operating around the clock on the lookout for drink and drug drivers and bringing them before the courts to help keep our roads safe."
