Flood warning has been updated for Packington and Measham areas after more snow and rain
The Environment Agency issued a Flood Warning for Gilwiskaw Brook at Packington earlier this week.
Overnight snow and rain had caused flooding in the area today (Monday).
But a further warning was issued by the Agency at 10am - but removed later on that day.
It said: "River levels remain high but are beginning to fall at the Packington river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.
"Consequently, the risk of flooding remains.
"We expect flooding to affect properties and roads in the Packington area including Mill Street and Brook Close.
"Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours.
"We expect river levels to remain high.
"We are closely monitoring the situation.
"Our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast.
"Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated as the situation changes."
An updated warning was also been issued for the River Mease at Measham and Netherseal.
The areas affected here are: Huntingdon Way, Mallard Close, Siskin Close, Wordsworth Way and Burns Close in Measham and Stretton Bridge and Mill Farm in Netherseal.
But that was also removed later on Monday.
North West Leicestershire Police said on Monday: "We are getting numerous calls to cars stuck in snow and flood water.
"Please stay safe and only travel if absolutely necessary. Do not attempt to drive through standing water/flooded roads."
If a warning is issued, you should:
- protect yourself and your loved ones
- move your loved ones, pets and valuables to a safe place
- move to higher ground or the upper floor of a building
- turn off the gas, electricity and water in your home if it's safe
- put flood protection equipment in place
- do as the emergency services tell you
- help others if it's safe to do so
