Ashby followed the rest of the country as supermarket shelves were emptied of toilet rolls and other hygiene products.

The current Coronavirus crisis has sparked a wave of panic buying among the public.

What Ashby Needs To Know

As well as toilet rolls, handwash, soap and sanitiser are in huge demand.

This was the scene in the Ashby's Tesco Superstore on Saturday afternoon with empty shelves despite signs warning that items such as toilet rolls and tissues would be limited.

It was a scene repeated across North West Leicestershire and South Derbyshire with reports of long queues and shelves being cleared of products on Saturday as the virus warnings from the Government become more serious.

The BBC reported on Saturday that 10 more people in the UK had died in the previous 24 hours after testing positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of deaths to 21.

The UK government's chief medical adviser said the patients were all in "at-risk" groups from across England.

The total number of confirmed cases in the UK has reached 1,140 while 37,746 people have been tested.
