Award-winning scarecrow competition back for 2026
By Grace Kennington 31st Jul 2026
The popular Heather Scarecrow Festival is back for 2026, kicking off this weekend.
The scarecrow festival has become a local staple, winning the King's Award in 2025 for Voluntary Service - the voluntary group equivalent of an MBE.

The Scarecrow Festival has now been running over 28 years, originally set up by Di Everett and is entirely run by volunteers, attracting thousands of visitors annually to see the best scarecrow displays made by local residents and schools.
Last year, the festival raised over £9,000, which was donated to village groups, the local football team and other community funds.
This year's festival is running between 2 and 8 August, with Scarecrow guides available to purchase around the village for £3.
