A burglar has pleaded guilty to numerous offences after stealing a car and showing off about it on Snapchat.

Police were called to a property in Church Gresley in the early hours of Friday 24 July after victims reported someone had broken into their house and stolen the keys to their Toyota Aygo before driving off in it.

One of the victims posted about the stolen car on Facebook and a member of the public identified the offender from videos of him in the vehicle.

Liam Taylor, age 21, posted a video of himself driving around in the stolen vehicle while singing and rapping on Snapchat.

Shortly after stealing the car, Taylor crashed into a van in Bretby Road, Swadlincote and fled the scene.

Officers were then called out to reports of a man knocking on people's doors in South Drive, Swadlincote.

Taylor was found by Police in the garden of a nearby property and arrested.

He then kicked out at officers multiple times in the Police van while being transported to custody.

According to Swadlincote Police, Taylor refused to be interviewed but was changed with numerous offences including: two counts of burglary (one from this incident and one from a previous incident in Newhall), theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving without a license or insurance and assaulting a police officer.

Liam Taylor, of no fixed address, plead guilty to all charges at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Monday 27 July and was remanded into custody.

He is due to appear before Derby Crown Court for sentencing on Monday 17 August.
