Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has confirmed details of the Platinum Jubilee Street Party in the town centre on Sunday.

Market Street will be hosting a 300-table celebration on which will stretch for most of the main street through Ashby.

The area will be closed to traffic on Sunday - with a fairground in Brook Street from Thursday onwards.

New Ashby Mayor Cllr John Deakin, with wife and Mayoress Karen, will officially open the street party celebrations at around 11.50am, 10 minutes before the festivities are due to begin.

The Town Council has highlighted the schedule for the Sunday - as well as answering some of the questions that might crop up during the four-day holiday.

The guide reads as follows:

The event is open to all residents to join in with but only those who have purchased a table may use them.

• The party is taking place in Market Street 12 – 3pm, you can begin setting up from 11am.

• Tables start with number 1 at the bottom of Market Street (Superdrug) going up to 300 at the top (St Helens House), the table number and name will be printed on the table.

(Please remember your table number) Event staff are on hand to guide you.

• Size of the table top is 6ft x 2ft.

• Public toilets will be open and free of charge in addition there will be portable toilets located near to the Frank Innes estate agents and Queen's Head hotel.

• Small children in a pushchair or seated on your lap do not count towards your six allocated spaces.

• A traditional Fair is in Brook Street and is running from Friday to Sunday – Charges apply.

• We have an Ice Cream Van and Cakes Away should you want to purchase puddings.

• An event brochure will be supplied to every guest so you can join in singing.

• A flyby from a Lancaster Bomber has been scheduled in for around 2.40pm

• Prize for overall best dressed table (judged by Mayor)

• A bin liner will be provided for your rubbish. Please take your rubbish home where possible.
