Field Sport UK in Ashby has been nominated as a national finalist for the Visit England Tourism Superstar Award.

The venue near Lount has transformed what was once a landfill into a popular activity centre.

Field Sport's setting, on the edge of the National Forest, means customers can be fully immersed in nature, and that, in turn, promotes positive mental wellbeing.

A social media post from Field Sport UK says: "We have a dedicated and supportive team of instructors, who go that extra mile and ensure everyone is having fun in a safe and professional environment.

"We offer customers a unique experience of learning new skills, and some customers have even been inspired to take up a new hobby, such as air rifle shooting and are now part of the extended Field Sport UK family, using our on site range facilities, making new friends along the way.

"Others have also gone on to be sporting heroes.

"We promote sustainable means of running our centre including solar lights, compost toilets, structures made from woodland thinning and our residential ponies who work hard to provide us with poop, yes poop! which is turned into bricks to burn on our log burner.

"They also keep the grass trimmed which saves mowing.

"Our team are passionate about what we do, creating an environment we are proud to work in delivering high-quality visitor experiences and continually striving to improve our offering.

"We're also committed to supporting other local businesses.

"As a champion of the local area, we hope that people will support us and vote for us to be their Tourism Superstar! Please help us spread our good news so that we can bring the award back to North West Leicestershire.

"We thank you all for your continued support over the last 10 years."
