At 10am on Monday 9 March, Ashby Willesley Primary School were joined by Rev Tim Phillips, Mayor of Ashby Cllr Damilola Ojuri and representatives from Ashby Town Council to mark Commonwealth Day.

Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration of the countries across the commonwealth, with this year marking 77 years since the creation of the modern Commonwealth with the signing of the London Declaration.

A short service was led by Rev Tim Phillips, with The Affirmation read by the children of Ashby Willesley Primary School.

Two pupils then raised the flag and the National Anthem was sung.
