Ashby fundraiser receives special recognition for supporting local air ambulance
By Grace Kennington 8th Mar 2026
Martin Cooper, an Ashby man who has dedicated a lot of time to raising funds and awareness for Your Local Air Ambulance, has received 'Recognition of Exceptional Support' from the Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.
In July 2025, Martin was invited for a special tour of the Air Ambulance base as a thank you from Your Local Air Ambulance for raising almost £25,000 for the charity, helping to fund many life saving missions.
Martin has once again been recognised for his ongoing support, receiving a letter of 'Recognition of Exceptional Support' and gold pin badge to thank him for his hard work.

Martin and his trusty mascot Marty the Meerkat spent 2024 touring the local area, visiting over 24 charity shops, community groups and organisations to raise awareness and funds for the air ambulance.
In Martin's letter, Your Local Air Ambulance said: 'On behalf of everyone at The Air Ambulance Service, I am writing to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation for your outstanding support and commitment to our charity.
'Your dedication and willingness to give your time so generously truly embodies the values of our charity. Supporters like you make it possible for us to continue delivering critical care to patients when they need it most.'
